get used to modern pa stuff
TUNES Posted by julandchigo on Wednesday 17 October 2007, 12:46AM

i am using a crest 10004 amplifier which brings two times 2800watt rms 20hz-20khz 4ohm.(3db headroom)

so one amp brings 5600watt
so i need 22 of these amps to reach the 120kw.

the power supply is quite easy with a generator with the size of 5x2x2 meters which give u 120kva.

there is also the crest 10001 which provides 10000watt into 4ohm or even 15000 into 2ohm.

the link to the HP
http://www.crestaudio.com/products/browse.cfm/action/detail/cat/340/item/116240/number/CFA-10001-AG/Pro10001.cfm

we use 15inch speaker from rcf which have 800watt rms, 1600 musik programm, over3000 peak power.

so where is the problem?

granpa get used to the new century, PA isnt the same than in the 70`s.

if there is a reson to use 100kw is another question, because its only 3db more loud than 50000watt system or 6 than a 25000w system.

its also a question of the frequency, 100kw into 30hz make you feel a little cold from the wind but 100kw on 150hz will knock you out, and on 1khz you will never hear anything else.
but DnB is quite deep, the rearloaded bass scoops are unifficent compared with frontloaded folded horns or hybrids like the vented horns (w-bin) so you can put ........power.

excuse my bad english but i am from the continent.

Large venues don't use a domestic 240v 13amp supply.

I have worked for the royal shakespear touring company which every week instals a 100kw lighting system and 10 kw sound system into sports halls up and down the country.

They use 3 phase 450 volt supplies which are installed into the venues for this type of use. You could comfortably power a 90k sound system from a single 125amp 3 phase socket with plenty of power to spare.

P.S. It's not clever to rant about subjects in which you are clearly clueless.

Mixing phases in sound systems?
by Chris Fresh on Saturday 23 February 2008 @12:12PM
Hi,

Quickie for you...

I was always of the impression that using more than one phase of the three phase supply for a single PA setup resulting in things going bang?

Is this not the case?

cheers,

Chris
