I wanna build a Vintage Jamaican Sound System!
Posted by downbeat on Saturday July 23, @12:39AM

I am looking for or examples to build a stand up vintage Jamaican style sound system box. I collect vintage and repress records of the music comming out of Jamaica from the 50-70's to include Ska, Rocksteady and Reggae. I try to play at small events. These records are played on a sound system I am putting together in the old style way. I use current technology tables but the seakers are designed and painted with retro lettering and images. My master piece will be the tall stand up speaker cabinet. I am having a hell of a time finding pictures or PLANS to build one of these. As I understand it these typicaly were made form ply-wood and had a sperated bass box on the bottom and the mids and highes were up top. But I am just going off of the limited pictures I have. If you have any information on the design or know anyone how makes or has made a good sounding cabinet please let me know.
