the valve system can be built up in many different configs up to a total of 95kw if you go by the makers of the amps
the config of the system is a whole load of crest vs1 american models ie 110v supply bridged into a 16kva 415 volt supply at max config
they are used to drive very primative scoop design bass bins loaded with pd186 drivers 18 inch and smaller scoops pd156 drivers these are arranged in walls with a 90 degree oposing phase to protedt the speakers more than anything but on paper they could drop lower
all this in a nutshell
the valve system is a gymic it contains not 1 single valve and uses very old technology
the company i used to work for built and designed abashanti the uks loudest system using some insane cabs loaded with custom precision devices 28 inch woofers in horn config through 21s 18 s and 15s up to 12 inch mid tops with wide dispersion horns we structually dammaged brixton rec during testing and made alot of people throw up uncontrollably when it dropped just below 40 hz
thats power

Valve is a brand, not a technology! |

If it ain't broke... the "Valve" is near enough their trademark. They don't say that it's a valve-amped soundsystem, it's just their 'thing'.
In the case of soundsystems, I love how the Valve is almost tuned to the 'key' frequency ranges of D&B - the system is designed for D&B playback, and from my listening experience, it excels at that.
Granted, they could have technically better drivers, but it'd cost them a shitload and - to be honest - who would *really* notice?
For other musical styles, I guess it'd require a redesign from the ground up, but sometimes primitive scoops can outclass a technically superior bin if they're playing the one type of music they were specifically designed for.

helped install valve at warehouse project manchester, going birmingham to help install it there on friday! It's like a childhood dream. I never thought i would somehow become involved! anyway it doesnt take 10 men to set up, more like a couple of men while the others drink tea but i shouldnt really tell u that! the guys that set it up are proper sound london geeza's and i am forever gratefull! 96k not 110. Very bass heavy, very simple build construction. hell of a lot of fun! isn't that what its all about?
Big shout out to stumblefunk sound system too! running outdoor free parties across manchester.
Check my myspace, spread the love.
