What Tweeters, Midrange and Amps in Valve?
TUNES Posted by Jack on Tuesday 07 October 2003, 10:17PM

Now I know what sub bass and mid bass speakers Dillinja uses.
But what tweeters and midrange drivers does he use?
And what Amps? Crown,Crest,QSC,CAMCO,Chevin Research,Lab Gruppen,Mackie?

If Dillinja,Lemon D or their sound engineers could tel me that would be a great help.

P.S. One thing I find strange why does Dillinja use scoop bass bins for deep bass when they are meant for mid bass?

Dillinja Soundy Speaks
by JP on Tuesday 21 October 2003 @09:52AM
Dillinja uses scoop bins for deep bass because when he plays a tune he cuts the mid on his mixer and juts laces the bass to nearly the highest level, this evens out the sound in the bin so that it is deeper. Doing this gives the sound the best deep bass sound for the tunes he plays. If he played his tunes as loud as he does using deep bass bins then the bass would be distorted slightly, and it would not be as deep because it would be at its maximum level.
I am one (of many) of his sound engineers getting ready for his BigBadBass event. Trust me, he knows what he is doing.

How'd ya get work experience with Dillinja?
by dj hyde on Tuesday 03 February 2004 @04:53PM
hi JP.Do you have any way i can a get a placement for work experience (without pay) along side you or anyone that works directly with dillinja, since i bought his cybotron album and FELT the bass i have been inspired by his work,i have never heard such original and awesome tunes. As for the valve systems he is using, i was wondering if there is any way of purchasing this hardware, i have just started producing my own music (drum and bass and jungle) and i would give anything to follow in Dillinjas mighty footsteps. Can you please email me at - frand001@hillingdongrid.org - Im 16 and still at school but i am applying for a course at college for sport science and music - this is everything from simple DJing to using MIDI software and more. The tunes that i have created are using programs such as Reason, i make a booking and have three hours with a supervisor to making music, when i have finished of my 'promo albun' on CD i will try and send a copy but i dont know where to send it to. I am also hoping to get reason on my own PC but it needs up grading/changing. This e-mail is a bit long but my final question is do you know any other programs that will allow me to create music as I will to first get Dillinjas intrest in me before i can go anyware.Thankyou for sparing the time to read this, if all goes well i will be able to meet you and the mighty Dillinja. Thanks again DJ Hyde

Opinionated on Dillinja
by Tom on Wednesday 25 February 2004 @03:10AM
Dillinja should use these amps:

QSC POWERLIGHT 9 which gives 1950 w rms into 8 ohm per chan,9000w rms into 4 ohm bridge, with 4 cooling fans.

And the mighty CREST PRO 10001,3500 w rms into 8 ohm per channel and 5000w rms into bloody 1 0hm,and 10000w rms[10kw rms] into 2 ohm bridge.
www.crestaudio.com

And proper touring speakers like EAW/Funkion One and Bassmaxx b zero 1's/lab subs/servodrive basstech 7,certainly would beat his scoops bass output.

Scoops went out with the ark.

the size of the cabs and energy required coupled with the frequency response and DB output on Scoops are easily out performed by modern cabinet designs.

Agree, the Bassmaxx Servo driven cabs are the ultimate in bass (servo - the drivers are motors!)

but if you in the market for an affordable cab that outperforms most others, check www.speakerplans.co.uk and track down the Looney Bin offered by pro audio parts.

Ohm also manufacture a similar bin to this.

All in all i don't exactely rate the Valve sound system, as a marketing tool it's brilliant, as a genuine high quality - high output Rig, its nothing to write home about,

and as for being the 'only sound system built for drum and bass', well some one should have a word with trading standards, as your probably have about 50 sound systems operating in the uk that are custom built for D&B and hundreds more accross europe, did valve not here about the free party movement?

Valve Loud but Crap!
by Phil on Tuesday 20 September 2005 @07:36PM
it doesn't look like a funktion-one system. IMO the Valve system is one of the loudest but worst sounding systems I have ever come across. The idea of cutting mids and putting loads of bass through scoops is ridiculous. If you want loads of harmonic distortion why not produce it with a processor and then play it through some decent speakers?

Dillinja Gives More Details
by dillinja on Tuesday 25 October 2005 @09:45PM
well maybe you heard it when we where trying out new mid top cabs cos the system sounds clean and loud right now and if there is any distortion its down to the dj's overdriving the inputs on the mixer, anyway we use a combination of scoops and double folded horns for bass, the double folded horn is a cabinet design used by most good pa companies like funktion 1 ,turbo sound, martin audio ect. but to get the deep bass that we like we would have to use them in multiples of 9 in each stack to create the right wave front which would create the low frequceis we like but it takes up a lots of space and most clubs only allow us to put speakers in certain areas because of fire exits ect.
and for the scoop bass bin, its a classic sub cab thats excellent for low bass only if you have the right power amps (old power amps) cos most new amps being built today are light switch mode amps and they dont go low in freqency so they sound shit when being used for low sub bass. the scoop bass bin is cheap to build, its not the loudest bass cab but it sounds good for low bass, loud bass cabs are cabs like the cervodrive if i could afford 60 of em i would buy em but we cant afford them as there very expensive, probably about 8 times more exepensive than a scoop bin.
i use the funktion one res 5's for mid highs at the mo but
i am developing my own mid high cab but it takes time, ill get there 1 day.

its nice to see people are interested peace

by Chris Withers on Tuesday 29 November 2005 @06:43PM
Hi there,

You may wish to have a look at one of these: http://www.eminent-tech.com/main.html

Rumour has it that it's the world most powerful sub bass speaker and has a pretty interesting design. Not sure if anyone's put one in a club yet!

cheers,

Chris builds Jungle Rig
by Chris on Saturday 13 May 2006 @01:49AM
Respect for showing face and clearing the air!
I'm currently in the process of building my own rig with my girl specifically for jungle/Dub. Currently running scoops and berry amps but long for a heuge stack of folded bins! how do you go about runnin scoops and 1850's at the same dont you get problems? would hate to sell the scoops but with the plan of taking the rig over to greece for outdoors, gona need them long throw bin's! have you tried your rig outside?
as for the valve sound do you actually use valve amps in conjuction with standard amps? sory for all the question im sure your the best 2 ask
safe 4 the knowledge

dunno what that guys on bout i think the valve is the best ive heard and felt just wish one day i get to play on it. valves moved drum and bass up another level in term of sound which all adds to the feel and atmosphere and thats what drum and bass is about right?

cant wait to see what the mid high cab sounds like, another assualt on the already bleeding ear drums lol

ez & peace
