KAM DDX 880 feedback problem?

I bought a couple of ddx 880 decks earlier on in the week got them at a very decent price, I have wired it all up and I am having a problem with feedback if I turn the gain up...

The feedback gets notcibly louder if i turn the "high temp" down the feedback reduces but that means i havnt got as much power as i would like to have any sugestions on what i could do? also the timing light on one od the decks has blown :(
