Technics 1210 - newbie!

Im a total newbie with the 1210, just got one for listening to music on, i dont wanna do dj-ing or anything!

So i've plugged the 2 phono leads into the back of my 5.1 mixer (sony dav-s888) via video 1, sound is hardly coming out the speakers even at full volume (i know it wont come out as 5.1)... so i wanna know, do i need a mixer or somethin? perhaps someone can help me out and tell me what im doin wrong? cheers!

You need a phono amp!

Turntables produce very low line levesl with very small amounts of bass.

You need to plug it into the phono socket of your Sony DAV-S888.

If it doesn't have one, you'll need to bug a phono pre-amp that takes in a phono signal and sends out a normal line level signal.

thanks for the reply, i realised i needed a phono-pre amp soon after posting my message here! I got one the same day and now am enjoying my turntable to the full! Thanks for your helpful reply anyways :)
