Fingathing are a new and totally unique dance act. This is a rare occurrence and one which should be celebrated.
Take one mad bedroom DJ whose practiced so hard he could get a tan from sitting in the moonlight and add one bassist who forgot the rules he was supposed to be playing by. Mix in the company of Grand Central Records finest artists, funk-filled northern club nights and some open minded promoters. Finally, add a stunning touch of live visuals and you have Fingathing.
Peter Parker (DJ) and Sneak (bassist) combine in ways only two fine musicians can. Pete provides the beats using one deck and a mixer while Sneak adds the funk using a very space age double bass.
Now, that sounds understated so I better explain more. Parker only uses one deck and a mixer and yet manages to provide an entire percussion section and some truly amazing dex effex. Sneak not only plucks and bows his way around complex and fascinating basslines, he also flips the bows and taps the strings creating scratch-like sounds, totally blowing away the audience.
Suffice to say the crowd was suitably impressed and showed their appeciation to the max, much to the delight of the almost shy and polite Fingathing boys.
For more info, see their website and look for them on tour supporting DJ Shadow.
