Re: The Prodigy is Dead, long live the Prodigy

The big disapointment to me was the whole ethos of individual track. Back when I first saw the Prodigy in 1996, the only silence was at the end of their set. All the tracks were mixed/sequenced together and it was all computer/moduled music, not a live musician in sight. It was a continual soundscape that appears to have been lost now :(

The current "live" musicians comprise the drummer and guitarist from Pitchshifter, not sure who the saxophonist was. Both these guys are amazing players but I'm not sure the Prodigy benefit from having the "live" element.

And, hey, what's wrong with John Lyndon. The last big dance thing I remember him being involved in consisted of a track on Leftfield's first album - no faulting that (I believe the track was "open up" although I could be wrong as I can't find my copy of the album).

Well, surely the Prodigy have Keith Flint for that purpose? ;-)

I guess the point was that they used to be a fine underground dance act, and punk vocalists have no place in a fine underground dance act.

The again, fire starter was pretty fine in its day. Oh the confusion...
